This is our 6th growing season at the Farm Business Development Center at Prairie Crossing. Throughout that time we’ve been looking for a permanent land/farm situation for our business. Recently we began opening ourselves up to other ideas and involving more people in the process to identify opportunities that would allow us to continue farming in our community. Through this process we started talking about our future with Peg and Matt Sheaffer of Sandhill Organics. The Sheaffers have been farming for 11 years, and for 8 of those years they have operated a CSA program at Prairie Crossing. Since we joined the Farm Business Development Center, they’ve mentored us and played an important role in the growth of our farm. Although our years building Dea Dia Organics have been very rewarding, we’ve decided to discontinue our CSA programs and beginning this spring Jeff will join Sandhill Organics as a full-time member of their management team.
We’ve truly enjoyed the communities we’ve become a part of and will miss the relationships we’ve built there. However, we are really excited about this opportunity and see it as a great way to continue doing what we love — growing healthy food for our community.
Please continue to follow us online (twitter, facebook) to learn more about the experience of joining together our two farms.
Thank you for your continued support in our farming journey!

Congratulations on the news! What does this mean for the pork CSA? I loved watching the pigs grow last summer, and I hope you’ll still be offering these happy, heritage pigs through your partnership with Sandhill.
